The Punisher: Night Shift

The Punisher: Night Shift - In Post-Production

A short neo-noir character study of Frank Castle (a.k.a. The Punisher) that follows the vigilante over the course of one night from one violent encounter to another.

​

The Punisher: Night Shift was written and directed by Austin Coglianese and features Austin in the title role of The Punisher. Filmed with a Black Magic Cinema Camera and an Ursa Mini, The Punisher: Night Shift features a gritty, urban style inspired by the films of Michael Mann.

The Tape

The Tape  - In Post-Production

Based on a short story by C. Thomas Lewis, The Tape is a thriller about strange, cryptic VHS Tape that entrances Karin and forces her father, Kyle, to attempt to solve the mystery of the tape in time to find and save Karin.

​

Austin Coglianese was the writer and director of The Tape and appears in the role of Elder Darryl. The Tape was filmed over two days on Black Magic Cinema Cameras.

Control

Control  - In Post-Production

​

Control is a hybrid of a music video and a narrative short film created through MacGuffin Media. Set in the not-so-distant future, Control follows two converging storylines. One storyline follows a new employee being led on a tour of the facilities of his new employer as the other storyline of an escaped test subject desperate to expose the truth behind the technology being developed by the employer.

​

Control  is based on the song Cryoshock (feat. Mel Rose) by Mechina and featured Austin Coglianese as the Director of Photography. Visually inspired by the Pescadero State Hospital chase scene in Terminator 2: Judgement Day (1991), Control was filmed over two days with Black Magic Cinema Cameras.

A behind-the-scenes documentary for The Tao of Ping Pong (2015) directed and edited by Austin Coglianese. Table Tennis and Time Travel: The Making of The Tao of Ping Pong  features clips from the film with behind-the-scenes footage and interviews with the film's co-script editor and first assistant director, director of photography, and director and star.

Austin Coglianese also worked on The Tao of Ping Pong (2015) as an associate producer, co-script editor, crane grip, and has a cameo in the film.

Deckard's Initiation: A Blade Runner Story

Deckard's Initiation: A Blade Runner Story (2016)

​

An exercise in using DaVinci Resolve to replicate the coloring of a scene from Blade Runner (1982). Deckard's Initiation: A Blade Runner Story (2016) tells the story of a young Deckard's first Voight-Kampff Empathy Test by recreating the dialogue from the first Voight-Kampff Empathy Test scene in the film and pairing it with the coloring from the scene where Rick Deckard is being briefed on his assignment to hunt down the rogue Nexus-6 replicants.

Filmed in just four hours on a Black Magic Cinema Camera, Deckard's Initiation: A Blade Runner Story (2016) was co-directed, edited, and colored by Austin Coglianese.

The Applicant

The Applicant (2015)

​

Conceived after drawing both a random a genre (Post-Apocalyptic) and a MacGuffin (cat) from a hat, The Applicant (2015) tells the story of Jane, a resourceful woman who has managed to survive in a harsh post-apocalyptic world and receives a cryptic message learning that she has been one of the few remaining survivors invited to apply to live in the new utopia of Mau City. Jane must then complete a series of three challenges to prove her worthiness of being admitted into Mau City before any of the other desperate applicants.

​

Filmed on a Canon 60D, Austin Coglianese served as camera operator for The Applicant (2015). Austin also directed the film's action sequences and edited together the opening prologue sequence of The Applicant (2015).
